German courses for private schools

An English private school sent 25 girls and boys between the ages of 14 and 16 along with their German teacher to Bamberg. The pupils stayed a week learning German in the mornings and spent the afternoons exploring the city of Bamberg, experiencing German culture, and learning about German history. The girls and boys lived with host families where they ate breakfast and dinner together with the family. In this way the pupils not only learned German vocabulary and grammar, but also became friends with their host parents and siblings. These experiences and relationships helped the pupils to form a positive and personal connection to the German language and to Germany as a country. What a wonderful way to get to know a country and its people!

A German course for university students

The University of Alabama (USA) sent a group of students to Bamberg to learn German. The group was very diverse. It consisted of students from several different of the university’s German classes, which comprised of various levels of German ability. The students were accompanied by a teacher. The group was divided into several mini-group which met at the Sprachinstitut TREFFPUNKT. That way each university student’s needs were met at their individual level, and everyone got the most out of their language trip. Of course the German classes at Sprachinstitut TREFFPUNKT can be converted into Credit Points, so the students have the possibility to shorten their study time. The American university students also lived with host families, achieving full immersion in the German language.

Preparation for a German exam

The participants were engineers from India. They were pursuing a degree in Chennai, India where cooperation with Germany was emphasized. It was therefore necessary that the mechanical engineers learn German in order to pass a DaF (German as a foreign language) certified test which would prove that they had reached a high level of German proficiency. Small groups of these Indian students came regularly to das Sprachinstitut TREFFPUNKT in order to prepare for this test. They prepared for the language test for several months and were able to take the test here at the school. Das Sprachinstitut TREFFPUNKT is a recognized DaF-testing location.
