Home stay accommodation
Sharing with Germans of your age group
You will have a single room in a private apartment and will be living together with one or two Germans.
The landlords/landladies are single and their ages range from 20 up to 65. Most of them are professionals or students.
If you want to stay with a student...
we will lodge you in a flat with a German student. Under very exceptional circumstances, another Treffpunkt student with a different native language may share the same apartment. You will have a room of your own, but you will share the kitchen and the bathroom. In general 2 people live together in one flat. Most student flats are centrally located, a 5 to 10 minute walk from the town centre and the school.
If you want to stay with a working professional...
we will arrange accommodation for you in his / her home. The age of these people ranges from 20 to 65. You will have a room of your own but will have to share the kitchen and the bathroom. The advantage of such an arrangement is that you can maintain contact with a German yet remain independent in organising your own activities. Most of these places are centrally located, a 5 to 10 walk from the town centre and the school.
Note:
- You will share a completely equipped kitchen and a bathroom.
- Please bring your own towels. Sheets, blankets and beds will be provided.
- If you'd like to have your own bathroom (extra charge), please let us know. We will check availability.
- Please consider that you will be living in a "community", i.e. you should integrate and also perform simple household duties. You won’t be living in a hotel. Please leave your rooms as you have found them. You are responsible for your room and will have to clean it before you leave.
- Inform your flat mate about your arrival and departure dates beforehand, so they can make suitable preparations.
- Your room usually does not have a TV or a telephone line, but normally internet/wi-fi.
Living with a family/homestay
You will have a single room in a family. This accommodation usually is booked with breakfast or half-board.
We have families of all different ages: Some families have small children or children who go to school; in other families the children do not live at home anymore.
The food offered by the families is mainly traditional regional fare. There are also families who prepare vegetarian or whole grain dishes. Let us know in advance if this is important to you, and we will try to match you up accordingly.
If you decide to stay with a family, you must be prepared to adapt to the eating habits and eating times that are common in Germany.
When choosing a family, the quality of the family involved and how you think you might get along with them should be your first considerations, rather than the distance to the school. You may therefore find that you will not be staying in the very centre of Bamberg, and that you have to take a bus or ride a bicycle to the school/town centre. The maximum duration of a trip either by bus or by bicycle is 15 minutes.
Staying with a family will familiarize you with everyday life in a German family and will offer you the chance to take part in family activities. We especially recommend staying with a family to those participants who do not wish to cook and who generally do not need to use the kitchen (cooking is not possible when staying with a family), as well as to those who would like to adapt themselves to the pace and schedule of a family. To the extent that the above applies, staying with a family is a suitable option for people of all ages.
Note:
- Please consider that you will be part of the family during your stay. You are not a hotel guest and therefore you will be responsible for your room and the sanitary area.
- Please be punctual for lunch and inform your family well ahead if you should be delayed or are not able to attend a meal.
- Inform your family about your arrival and departure dates beforehand, so they can make the necessary preparations.
- Please bring your own towels. Sheets, blankets and beds will be provided.
- Your room usually does not have a TV or a telephone line, but normally internet/wi-fi.
Apartment
You will live on your own in a completely furnished and equipped apartment with kitchen, bathroom, TV, telephone and usually internet.
The apartments are all very well located and are offered by professional agencies at a daily price. We offer a broad selection of holiday apartments, either located in the old town or in the green surroundings of a suburb.
If you choose this form of accommodation, you are completely independent and, as opposed to a stay in a hotel, you will have the opportunity to cook a meal.
Note:
- In these completely furnished apartments you will be provided with bed clothes and towels. There will also be a final cleaning service.
- The holiday apartments typically consist of one bedroom and a dining room or a combined bed and dining room with a small but fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette.
- Please inform your landlord/landlady about your arrival and departure dates beforehand, so they can make the necessary preparations.
- We would like to ask you to leave the apartment tidy.
Hotel
You can choose between guest houses and hotels of different price categories. Within each category we have selected two hotels for you. The criteria for our selection were location, service, equipment and a special discount for our students. The prices include breakfast.
